| New York moves to the Village that never sleeps Saturday, 31st May 2008 Imagine being transported to New York, strolling down 5th Avenue, seeing all the latest fashions, marveling at the amazing skyline and reveling in the electric atmosphere on the street as locals go about there business. Well … imagine no longer! Just visit Irene Village Mall, in the east of Pretoria, on Friday May 30 and experience the sights, sounds and excitement of one of the fashion capitals of the world as “The Theatrical Trailer of New York and the Village” unfolds. In an event that will celebrate the country-wide release, at Sterkinekor Cinemas, of the much awaited movie, “Sex And The City”, high fashion, bright lights, hot models, cabaret dancing, great giveaways and all that jazz will be brought to Pretoria’s trendiest new shopping destination. “While the movie portrays the lives of four women, Carrie, Charlotte, Samantha and Miranda living in the hussle-and-bussle of New York City, we want to treat our valued guests to a taste of what life in the Big Apple is all about,” says Marie Coetsee, Irene Village Mall’s marketing manager. To this end the Village will be transformed into a fashion and entertainment wonderland with one of the longest catwalks ever seen in the country, over 300 metres, winding through the mall from a central stage and ramp in the piazza, which will be the focal point of the event. With models “strutting” their stuff from the stage along the catwalk from 6.30pm to get proceedings underway, master of ceremonies, Nico Panagio, of 7de Laan fame will keep visitors and VIP guests fashionably informed with loads of goody bags and great gifts being given away. At 7pm Anna Davel will add to the New York feel of the occasion with a 30-minute jazz performance while World-class static displays and freeze modeling will be seen throughout the centre to contribute to the eclectic atmosphere. A fashion show, choreographed with a distinct New York theme, will follow and see professional models showcasing all the latest winter fashions for young and old that are available at stores in the mall with two cabaret dance sequences adding to the vibe. All this will take place before a VIP screening of “Sex and the City” at the Irene Village Mall Sterkinekor Classic Cinema Complex at 8.30pm with Irene Village Mall and Fashion TV giving 20 tickets away to this special screening. There will be a second bite at the apple on Saturday, May 31 when models will make sure the new winter fashions don’t pass visitors by as they stroll along the catwalk and freeze at various displays throughout the mall between 10am and 2pm. At the same time guests are invited to visit the Revlon nail makeover studio at the main stage for a nail demo and makeover. For avid ‘Sex And The City” fans there will also be ample opportunity to see the movie version of this popular TV series as it will be showing at the Irene Village Mall.
