| Boeremark at Irene Village Mall
Despite the unexpected winter cold that struck Irene on Saturday morning 31 October 2009, eager market shoppers descended on Irene Village Mall to visit the first “Boeremark at Irene Village Mall”. This farmer’s market is the latest newest exciting concept introduced by Irene Village Mall to provide the equivalent of the Pretoria Pioniers Museum Boeremark in Silverton on this side of town. The Lions Club of Pretoria City is the market organisers collaborating with Irene Village Mall and all exhibitor stall proceeds are channeled into their various charity organisations. Braving the early morning cold, stall owners eagerly set up their stalls to officially open the Boeremark at Irene Village Mall and to everyone’s delight the cold did not keep the customers away and so the selling of delicious fresh produce commenced at 6 am. On sale were fresh from the earth spinach and giant marrows, exotic Polish meats, traditional Boerebeskuit and Moskonfyt, home made yoghurt and many more delights and treats! When the hunger pangs struck around breakfast time there were delicious Boerewors rolls and Panini’s to choose from. Hot chocolate and coffee provided much needed warmth against the cold and Wesley Cousins’ soothing voice and songs added a little musical warmth to the soul. The Boeremark at Irene Village Mall is on every Saturday in the parking terrain between the two main boom entrances at Irene Village Mall. With Wimpy opening at 7 am and Bugatti’s at 7:30 am and all other shops at Irene Village Mall at 8 am, customers can then enjoy a scrumptious breakfast and do their weekend shopping all in one after a visit to the Boeremark at Irene Village Mall.
